Non-urgent advice: Extended Access & Out of Hours

Extended Access

Out of hours services provide access to healthcare when GP surgeries are closed. Most GP surgeries operate between 8am to 6:30pm, and are often closed on weekends, bank holidays and educational sessions (please check your surgery operating times as not all are the same). You can still access a GP up to 8pm on a weekday or from 8am to 8pm at the weekend by using the extended GP access service.

Please use the right service when you are ill. Only visit the A&E department in a critical or life threatening situation.

NHS 111

Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones. You can call 111 anywhere in England making it easier for you to access urgent healthcare services when you need medical help fast.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
